I’m here today with another book tag! This time it’s the TBR book tag, many thanks to Behind the Sentence for tagging me.
How do you keep track of your TBR?
I mostly use Goodreads. Like many I also use Story Graph and BookSloth but it’s hard to always keep everything updated, and GR is most comfortable for me. I also keep a notebook with the books in my monthly TBR where I write notes while reading.
Is you TBR mostly print or ebook?
My initial answer for this was ebooks, but I actually went and counted my physical books and I have way more than I first thought? I still have a lot of ebooks, including arcs, but apparently my print pile has increased without me even realizing it.
How do you determine which book from your TBR to read next?
Honestly? I don’t even know. My TBR is made only if I decide to participate on a readathon for the month, otherwise my next read is determined by the mood I’m currently on. Sometimes I go nuts trying to decide my next read even if I have a set TBR for the month. Last month I didn’t had a set TBR and I started about 5 books before settling for one…
A book that’s been on your TBR the longest
The longest… is probably one of my Paulo Coehlo’s books. So either Brida or La Bruja de Portobello. I’m pretty sure I stole those from high school’s library, and that was before I started buying and reading books for my own enjoyment again. I’ve tried to read Brida before but was not in the mood, so maybe I’ll get to those later when I’m into some weird magical mood.
A book that you recently added to your TBR
Summer Bird Blue by Akemi Dawn Bowman. I read Em’s post about Asexuality in Literature and loved it, they discussed a couple of books with ace spec representation and I’ve been looking for them a lot more recently. So that’s one of the books I added, but not the only one mentioned!
A book that is on your TBR strictly because of its beautiful cover
Definitely Romanov by Nadine Brandes. I’ve seen really bad reviews on this book and I can’t say I’m all excited about reading it. But I really liked the cover, it has golden foil and I’m weak for those details. Plus it was like $5 on Amazon.
A book on your TBR that you never plan on actually reading
I don’t want to say that there’s a book I don’t actually plan to read ever… but if I have to choose one, it’ll be The Hive: The Matriarch Saved. To be honest, I don’t even know how it appeared on my Kindle. It’s certainly not the type of book that I would read voluntarily. Maybe one day when I don’t have any other book to read…
An unpublished book on your TBR that you’re excited for
Let me say that the list is fucking long, and I’ve probably mentioned this one a few times in previous posts but the book I’m most excited about this year is Loveless by Alice Oseman. Just… a book centered on an aro/ace character by one of my now favorite authors? I can’t wait for it, good news is that it’ll be published soon so the wait is almost over!
A book on your TBR that basically everyone has read except you
It feels like everyone and their mom has read the Folk of the Air series. I have this bad boy on my Kindle because it was a deal when I saw it, and decided fuck it, let’s do this. I still don’t know when I will read it but it’ll be this year. It’s one of the series I want to get into before the year ends.
A book on your TBR that everyone recommends to you
I don’t actually have any… I’ve gotten like single recommendations when I’ve asked for one, but I wouldn’t say there’s been an specific book that everyone recommends me.
A book on your TBR that you’re just dying to read
Definitely The Once and Future Witches by Alix E. Harrow. I was recently approved for the arc so I can actually start it whenever I want to, but there are a few books that I have to finish before I’m free to read it. But this is one I will read as soon as I finish my current TBR for the month.
The number of books on your Goodreads TBR shelf
Wow, thanks for this, in no way is this an personal attack to my person. I know my TBR is not as extensive as other people’s but there’s 648 books on my TBR shelf as of right now. I should probably do a little clean up because I know some of those books will not match my taste now.
